  12. Keep plants watered on holiday by filling a bottle with water and a bit of air, screw the top on tightly, put each of your plants onto a plate (use deep ones) and then connect the plates with one used for the water bottle via rubber tubing or cotton cloth. Then (with the cap on) drill a small hole in the bottle while it is upside down, turn it upside down then place on the plate. As long as your tubing stays unclogged and full of water, and the tubes are connected to each pot plate, the bottle will only drain as much as the plants in each connected pot plate can absorb. The system is completely self-regulating and requires no motors, power, or human intervention.
