The vibrant town of Grand Baie has a charming village atmosphere, and cows and sheep can be seen freely roaming as they graze along the beach edge. There are many street vendors offering some fantastic souvenirs and the opportunity to haggle. The white sand beach is stunning and is adjoined by shops, restaurants and coconuts palms. Grand Baie offers excellent opportunities for a lively night out or for a day spent sunbathing. Just off the north Mauritius coast are three small islands which make an excellent day trip and good diving opportunities. These are easily accessed from Grand Baie by boat.
