Holiday Insurance

Mercury Direct offer comprehensive insurance options for your package holiday. Please see below for details:

We strongly recommend that you and all members of your party are suitably insured as soon as you book your holiday, protecting against unforeseen circumstances that could otherwise spoil your trip. It is a condition of booking that you must have suitable travel insurance. It is important that you purchase travel insurance that suitably covers your participation in whatever activities you may undertake at the time that you make your booking. To assist you with this, we have arranged travel insurance in partnership with both Holiday Extras and Towergate Chase Parkinson a trading name of Towergate underwriting Group Ltd authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority to specifically meet your needs on your holiday. The Holiday Extras policy is underwritten by Mapfre Assistance and the Chase Parkinson policy is underwritten by ETI-International Travel Protection, the UK branch of Europaische Reiseuersionening A.G Munich, an ERGO Group Company. ETI is licensed by Bundesanstalt fur Finanzdienstleistungsaufsicht and approved by the Financial Services Authority to undertake insurance business in the UK. Sunspot Tours Limited is an Appointed Representative of ITC Compliance Limited. Details of all companies can be found on the FSA website (www.fsa.gov.uk).

All the information below relates to the Holiday Extras policy. Please call for details of the Chase Parkinson policies.

Should you decide not to purchase our insurance, you must provide us with details of your alternative insurance with your final payment. Full details will be sent with your confirmation of booking and are available on request at any time. The insurance applies to all persons named on the booking form and for whom a premium has been paid. Insurance cover will, however, only be effective when we receive payment in full of all applicable insurance premiums. It is the responsibility of you and your party to arrange additional cover exceeding the maximum amounts payable under our policy or providing cover for additional areas of liability required. We reserve the right to cancel your holiday if we discover that you do not have suitable insurance cover for your holiday - in this case cancellation charges as set out in our booking conditions will apply.

    Health
An insurance policy can only provide cover in respect of an event/occurrence which is sudden, unforeseen and beyond your reasonable control. Therefore any facts known to you, which could possibly result in you having to make a claim, must be disclosed otherwise you may not be covered. You will be required to make a health declaration for each person to be insured under the policy and for any person for whom you would expect to be covered for cancellation and curtailment, such as immediate family or travelling companions, suffering from any pre-existing medical condition(s). Failure to declare pre-existing condition(s) will invalidate any cover in relation to claims arising from such conditions.

    Policy limits
Most sections of your policy have limits on the amount the insurer will pay under the section. Some sections also include other specific limits, for example for any one item or for valuables in total. You are advised to check your policy if you intend taking expensive items with you.

    Policy excesses
Under most sections of the policy, claims will be subject to an excess. This means that you will be responsible for paying the first part of each claim. The amount you have to pay is the excess.

    Reasonable care
You need to take all reasonable care to protect yourself and your property, as you would if you were not insured.

    Demands and needs
This travel insurance policy will suit the Demands and Needs of an individual, or group (where applicable) who have no excluded medical conditions, are travelling to countries included within the policy terms and who wish to insure themselves against the unforeseen circumstances/events detailed within this insurance policy. Subject to terms and conditions and maximum specified sums insured.

    Important
The insurance policy will have been sold to you on a non-advised basis and it is therefore for you to read the insurance policy (paying particular attention to the terms, and conditions and exclusions) and ensure that it meets all of your requirements. If upon reading the policy you find it does not meet all of your requirements, please refer to the relevant Option to Cancel section A policy document that fully defines the cover, conditions and exclusions will be sent to you with your booking confirmation. When you receive yourpolicy, please take the time to read it carefully to ensure you understand what is and what is not covered, and that all activities that you may wish to participate in are included. If it does not meet your requirements, please return the policy, proof of premium and any other relevant documents to us within 14 days of receipt and we will refund the premium in full, provided you have not travelled or made a claim.

Failure to comply with the terms & conditions of the policy may result in cover being restricted
