This delightful tour of some of the finest scenic and historic sights in Kerala is available as an attractive add-on to any beach holiday in Kerala or to any similar holiday in Sri Lanka.

This tour can be taken either at the beginning or at the end of your holiday on the island.

The tour will run with a minimum of 2 people.

Treasures of Kerala tour 6 nights/7 days Itinerary:

(all travel in an air-conditioned vehicle with an English speaking driver/guide)

Day 1: You are met on arrival at Trivandrum Airport and transferred to your hotel. After refreshments you are taken on a brief city tour of Trivandrum, the capital of Kerala. Overnight stay at Uday Samudra Hotel (or similar).

Day 2: After breakfast, drive to Alleppey to join a fully furnished houseboat. These boats are converted from traditional rice boats that used to ply the Backwaters of Kerala. Once aboard you have a crew of three, including a chef, to look after your needs as you slowly meander through the maze of waterways and lakes that make up Kerala's fascinating Backwaters. Overnight is spent onboard.

Day 3: After breakfast, drive to Cochin. Rest of day at leisure with optional visit to the diamond factory to view the production of diamond ornaments. There is a complimentary 1 hour tuk-tuk ride through the village. Evening experience the Kerala traditional art form of Kathakali performance. Overnight at Sreeragam Luxury Retreat or similar.

Day 4: Sightseeing in Cochin to include the oldest European church in India, the Dutch Palace, the historic Chinese fishing nets, the market, etc. Overnight at Sreeragam Luxury Retreat or similar.

Day 5: After breakfast proceed to Thekkady where it is a drive up into the mountains through the various palm, tea and spice plantations. Overnight at Hotel Aranya Nivas or similar.

Day 6: Thekkady is the site of the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. There is a free early morning cruise on Periyar Lake to view the wildlife. This is followed by an optional visit to a Spice Plantation and a nearby spice market or light trekking, bamboo rafting or nature walk (all at a fee). The rest of the day is at leisure. Overnight at Hotel Aranya Nivas or similar.

Day 7: Proceed to Trivandrum Airport or Cochin Airport for onward flight.
