Kyrenia was founded in the 10th century B.C. in the foothills of the Five Finger mountains. Today the town has plenty of character and colour with many small restaurants and lively tavernas set in the pretty harbour. The area features mountain and sea views as well as plenty of historic sites including the 7th century Kyrenia Castle, the Shipwreck Museum and St. Hilarion Castle (which is said to be the inspiration for Walt Disney's Sleeping Beauty Castle).

Famagusta was originally a small fishing town but went on to become a major trading centre between Asia and Europe. Visitors flock to see the spectacular ruins here which give a fascinating insight into long-lost civilisations. Here you will discover a magnificent amphitheatre, Roman baths and royal burial tombs. The nearby church of St. Barnabas is also worth a visit as it hosts a wonderful collection of 18th century icons, as well as a monastery and archaeological museum.
