Sri Lanka Classical Tour
Sri Lanka is a land famous for its history and culture, and by booking one of our tours you can ensure that you see all the key sigths at the very best value available. Our 7 night Classical Tour takes things at a slightly easier pace with the option to take additional trips on certain days, or just spend free time at your own leisure. The key sights are all still featured, including Sigiriya, Kandy and the famous Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage. If you're looking for a holiday which includes plenty of culture, but you would still like a few days relacing on the beach, then take a look at the additional 3 night beach stays which can be added on for just £135pp and are only combinable with this tour.

The tour will run with a minimum of 1 person.
The price of the tour includes:

Sri Lanka Classical Tour Itinerary:
(all travel in an air-conditioned vehicle with English speaking driver/guide. Entrance to all sights and shows mentioned included.)
Day 1: Clients will be met on arrival and transferred to the Pegasus Reef Hotel at Wattala. Following check-in, embark on a city tour of Colombo and explore this rapidly expanding city which still keeps its colonial charm. See the city's key sites including the 100 year old clock tower, Pettah bazzar and temples as well as numerous other sites. Return to Pegasus Reef Hotel (or similar) for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Following breakfast proceed to the Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage, which homes and cares for abandoned elephants of all ages. You will be able to see the elephants being fed and then bathed in the nearby river. Proceeed to the Dambulla rock temple; built in the 1st century B.C. and a world heritage site. Dambulla is one of Sri Lanka's most impressive cave temples, incorporating over 2000 square metres of painted walls and ceilings. Continue and check-in to the Royal Lotus Hotel (or similar), and spend the rest of your day at leisur, dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 3: Following breakfast proceed to Anurdhapura, the first capital of Sri Lanka and one of the grandest cities of the era. See the Sacred Bo-Tree; grown from a sapling this tree is now over 2200 years old and is the oldest documented tree in the world. You will also visit the famous Brazen Palace, Samadhi Buddha Stature, and the Isurumuniya rock temple. Upon completion return to the Royal Lotus Hotel (or similar) where the rest of the day is spent at leisure and enjoy dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: After an early breakfast proveeed to Sigiriya, a 5th century rock fortress and a world heritage site. Topping the 200 metre summit is the 'lion rock', a citadel built by King Kashyapa which offers speactacular views of the jungle around. Following the Sigirya tour, proceed to Polonnaruwa, the second capital city of Sri Lanka, built in the 11th and 12th centuries AD. Here you will explore the former Temple of the Tooth relic, as well as the famous Lotus Bath, Royal Palace and Gal Viharaya where four splendid rock carved statues of the Buddha in 'Upright', 'Sedentary' and 'Recumbent' postures can be seen. Dinner and overnight at the Royal Lotus Hotel (or similar).
Day 5: After breakfast proceed to a spice garden at Matale. Visitors will be able to see the growing and processing of many of the spices for which Sri Lanka is famous for. Continue on to Kandy where the rest of the day is free for your enjoyment. Check-in for dinner and your overnight stay at the Topaz Hotel (or similar).
Day 6: Following breakfast, entire day is spent at leisure or at a supplement of £19pp guests will have the option of visiting the Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya, followed by a city tour of Kandy, driving round Kandy lake, and also visiting bazaar, gem museum, arts and crafts centre and lapidary. An optional walking tour of the city is also available and truly allows you to experience the day to day life of the loacal people. Dinner and overnight at the Topaz hotel (or similar).
Day 7: After breakfast proceed to the Labukelle Tea Estate, experience the plantation and learn about the production and manufacture of the famous Ceylon Tea; continue on to Ramboda to see the Ramboda waterfalls, on completion return to Kandy. In the evening see a typical Sri Lankan Cultural show and visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic. Dinner and overnight at the Topaz Hotel (or similar).
Day 8: After breakfast transfer to the Mount Lavinia Hotel, beach hotel or airport for flight home or onto the Maldives or Kerala
