Sri Lanka Discovery Tour

NEW Discovery Tour - Sri Lanka is an historic and cultural storehouse set against a backdrop of stunning beauty. No visit to the island is complete unless you venture into the interior and sample these wonders at first hand, which you can do by experiencing our 7 day tour of discovery.

The tour will run with a minimum of 1 person.

Sri Lanka Discovery Tour Itinerary:

(all travel in an air-conditioned vehicle with English speaking driver/guide. Entrance to all sights and shows mentioned included.)

Day 1 (Monday): You will be met on arrival at the airport and transferred to Dambulla Rest House. Excursion to visit the fascinating Dambulla Rock Temple, a World Heritage Site which includes 2000sq metres of painted walls. Proceed to Polonnaruwa and check in at the Hotel Sudu Araliya for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2 (Tuesday): Breakfast at hotel. Optional visit to Polonnaruwa, Sri Lanka's medieval capital, another world heritage sight with many ruins still in excellent condition. Also visit the Royal Palace, and the Gal Viharay which has 4 splendid statues of the Buddha. Rest of the day is at leisure with dinner and overnight at the Hotel Sudu Araliya.

Day 3 (Wednesday): Enjoy breakfast at hotel and proceed via Sigiriya and Matale to Kandy. Visit to the Sigiriya Rock Fortress, a world heritage sight dating from the 5th century AD, built by the King Kashyapa. The ‘Lion Rock’ is a citadel of unusual beauty rising 200 metres from the jungle. Enroute to Kandy visit a spice garden in Matale and see the spices that Sri Lanka is famous for. Proceed to Kandy and check in at Serene Grand Hotel for dinner and overnight with the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 4 (Thursday): Breakfast at hotel. Visit to the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage where you can see abandoned elephants being cared for. Some are baby elephants being fed and trained by the wildlife authorities. In the afternoon tour the city of Kandy, a world heritage site visit a gem museum and lapidary, bazaar, arts and crafts centre and drive around Kandy Lake. Optional visit to the Temple of the Tooth Relic and cultural show. Dinner and overnight at Serene Grand Hotel.

Day 5 (Friday): Breakfast at hotel. Optional visit to the Botanical Garden in Peradeniya. Proceed to Nuwara Eliya, Sri Lankas leading hill resort and tea growing centre visiting the tea factory/plantation to experience the manufacture and taste the pure Sri Lankan tea. On arrival at Nuwara Eliya feel free to walk around the city. Proceed to Lourdes Inn Hotel for dinner and overnight stay

Day 6 (Saturday): After breakfast drive to Weerawila. Afternoon at leisure. Visit to Yala National Park by jeep, the largest wild animal reserve on the island. The park is the home to leopard, bear, elephant, wild boar, buffalo, deer and crocodile. Large flocks of migratory and indigenous birds are also found here. Dinner and overnight at Wila Safari Hotel.

Day 7 (Sunday): After breakfast proceed to Galle for a short city tour and continue to Colombo for 6pm arrival for your return flight.
